'Check Cell' warnings and low chlorine readings usually mean your salt cell is exhausted. Here's how to tell, and what to expect from a genuine OEM replacement.
Saltwater pools are popular across Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, and Parrish for their soft, low-maintenance water. But the salt cell that generates your chlorine doesn't last forever. Most cells run about 10,000 hours, roughly 3 to 5 years in a typical Florida pool.
Signs Your Salt Cell Is Failing
- •'Check Cell' or 'Inspect Cell' warning on your control panel
- •Chlorine readings dropping even with proper salt levels
- •'No Flow' errors from a failing flow switch
- •Algae returning despite a 'clean' cell
- •Visible calcium scale buildup on the titanium plates
Clean First, Replace Second
Before replacing, a licensed technician will clean the cell in a mild acid solution to remove scale. If output doesn't recover after cleaning, the titanium plates are exhausted and a genuine OEM replacement is the fix.
Always Use Genuine OEM Cells
Off-brand cells may fit but often underperform and can void your system warranty. We install genuine AutoPilot, Hayward AquaRite, Pentair IntelliChlor, and Jandy AquaPure cells sourced directly from wholesale distributors.
Salt chlorine systems are part of the full equipment pad we service. See our pool equipment repair page for salt system diagnosis, cell cleaning, and OEM replacement.
Not sure if your cell needs replacing? Call Aloha Pool Service; we'll test output, inspect the flow switch, and give you an honest answer, not a sales pitch.
